Given the current climate and the way we have all been living in the past 18 months, I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “Micro-Wedding” a bunch by now.

Micro-weddings have been taking the industry by storm over the past year, given that many couples have had their special day postponed or cancelled due to lockdowns or restrictions, and many of them just want to get on with it. And while micro-weddings have always been great for those who are on a tight budget, or just don’t particularly want a massive, glamorous wedding, they are definitely on the rise given the current pandemic we are living amongst.

Let’s face it – couples who planned on a 2020 wedding (or even a 2021 wedding for that matter) are struggling. Even those who already postponed their weddings due to the pandemic are finding that they may need to further alter their plans, such as shrinking their guest list. And for most, this was one of the toughest decisions they’ve had to make as they didn’t want to hurt feelings or they’ve just always had their heart set on a huge wedding. However, as time goes on and plans are continuously being changed, these couples have come around to the idea, and more often than not, completely halve their guest count. And let’s also not forget when Victoria was coming out of lockdown the first time, and weddings were capped at 10 people – couples had to more than halve their guest list.

So let’s say you are in the midst of planning a micro-wedding, or you just know that in the future this is how you plan on celebrating the love with your partner, here a few great perks that will make sure you’re special day is amazing regardless:
– You can splurge on a particular aspect more so than usual, e.g. fine wine or a memorable degustation for your guests.
– You can spend more quality time with your guests, rather than feeling like you have to rush to greet everyone before the night ends.
– More money left over to spend on your honeymoon.
– You can be quite strict with your guest list (you don’t have to invite Daryl from the office just because he’s friends with Sam and an ex-partner of Lucy), and you know that everyone there will be incredibly close to you and share your love wholey.
